As Seoul City’s Cultural Properties Materials No. 8,
Seokyaksa Seated Buddha is located at Yaksajeon Hall of Hoapsa Temple.

Seokyaksa Seated Buddha is depicted with low yukgye (fleshy protuberance on the crown of the Buddha), densely curly hair and a large rectangular face with some curves. The depiction of its body frame, drapery on its left arm, and band knot on its chest clearly reflect the features of Buddha statues built in the early Joseon Dynasty. The upper torso is neat and trim, and the statue is holding a yakho (boju: jewel) with both hands in front, which suggest that it is Yaksayeorae.
Yaksayeorae (藥師如來, Bhaisajyaguru) refers to Buddha (Yeorae) who cures illnesses, extends life, annihilates wealth, provides clothing and food, and leads humankind to the right path towards enlightenment.
