Domestic Residence Report for Foreign Nationals of Korean Heritage

  • Individuals required to report : Foreign nationals who have entered into Korea with the intent to stay for 90 days or longer with certain qualifications among those who had previously held Korean citizenship or their lineal descendants
  • Report to : Seoul Southern Immigration Office
  • Required documents
    • Additionally required documents for each country
    • Documents deemed necessary by the Minister of Justice
    • A certificate regarding registered matters on the family relation or a deleted family census register, removal from family register, and documents demonstrating that the applicant or one of the applicant's parents or grandparents was once a Korean national
    • Documents describing reasons that the applicant or the applicant and his/her lineal descendants acquired foreign citizenship and demonstrating the date of such acquirement

        sojourn status
      • - Fee
  • Submission of application for
    the extension of stay

    • Permission
      • - Seal affixed for additional permission of
        a change in the workplace in passport
      • - Permission details entered into the alien
        registration card
    • Rejection

      - Reasons for rejection notified

Procedure to obtain permission for a change in the status of stay

  • Applicant

    • Apply before

      • - Prior to conducting activities permitted under another status of stay
      • - Where a foreign national with the
        status of stay relating to diplomacy,
        official government work, or agree
        ment whose status has been
        changed, apply within 30 days from
        the date on which such change

    • Attached forms

      • - Application for the extension of permitted period of stay
      • - Passport
      • - Alien registration card (if appli
        cable)
      • - Attached documents for each
        sojourn status
      • - Fee
